THE
DEEP END

A story best read while holding your breath.

I

THE BLACKOUT

THE LIGHTS LEFT.
THE RIPPLE STAYED.

At 03:17, the orbital pool lost power. The water should have frozen. Instead, lane seven began to glow — green, low, and steady. Something beneath it had remembered how to move.

II

THE SWIMMER

HE WORE GOGGLES.
NOT A CROWN.

NASPOOP rose without a splash. He said nothing. He adjusted the blue bridge of his goggles, faced the empty stars, and pushed off from a wall that was no longer there.

III

THE SIGNAL

EVERY WALLET
MADE A WAVE.

The first holders didn’t follow a map. They followed the wake. A small brown streak through impossible water — ridiculous enough to be true, stubborn enough to keep going.

END OF FILE. START OF LAP.

IS THROUGH.
